Quote Desk

A static single-page app that prices a quote from the company's real discount curves and prints it as a branded, Letter-size PDF the buyer can forward to procurement. A Stadil product, white-labeled by Scalr.

Internal tool

The Scalr deployment carries actual pricing curves, so it stays private. The preview above is a synthetic quote. Photo: Marcus dePaula on Unsplash.

Quote Desk with a synthetic quote. The ledger on the left prices the paper on the right; the real curves stay private.

It replaces two pricing spreadsheets. The pricing model lives in one pure module with tests that pin known outputs, so a quote is priced the same way twice. The form is a deal ledger that serves a live paper preview: what you see is what the customer receives. There is no backend, so there is nothing to host or log into.

A pure pricing engine

SKU prices, two discount curves, add-on tiers, enterprise tiers, and approval thresholds live in one module. Known quotes from the sheets are pinned as tests, so any drift from the spreadsheet is a failing test.

Every variant is a toggle

Business SKU, custom volume, consecutive bundles with bonus and migration runs, enterprise graduated tiers, multi-year, payment split, marketplace, non-profit. Unset toggles leave no trace on the paper.

Paper paginated by measurement

The quote is laid out for US Letter and paginated by measuring the rendered blocks, so page one holds what fits and further pages carry honest footers. The PDF is the browser's print dialog.

Policy visible, never a wall

Discount authority is surfaced as a badge: rep, CEO, or team approval. The curve instrument plots the deal against both discount curves so the number is explained, not just stated.

Principles

  1. 1Same numbers as the sheet, or the tool is wrong.
  2. 2A quote never renders a broken cell; problems live in the tool, not on the paper.
  3. 3The paper is the product; the form exists to serve it.
